I’m a huge sucker for frozen treats. Ice cream, yogurt, sorbet and especially fresh Italian gelato. Therefore, when my friend found this place on Yelp, we decided to try it out and WOW, it did not disappoint us at all.

Vitaly, a cute trendy italian cafe at The Camp in Costa Mesa, offers a huge selection of gelato and sorbet. There are usually around 20-24 flavors combined, which is quite impressive. The gelato flavors are very different from what you’d usually see at other places. Many choices from the typical fruit flavors to rich chocolates and nuts mixes. They even have holiday/seasonal special! The good thing is that you can try as many flavors as you’d like. For first timers, I suggest you order the Gelato Flight, a mini 5 gelato sampler plate for $4.90.

My favorite has got to be the Honey Lavender gelato. At first, I thought the flavor could be overwhelming due to the heavy lavender taste, which I thought it’d probably taste very artificial-like, but I was SO WRONG. IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD. The gelato melts in your mouth immediately and all you taste is the delicate sweetness of honey with a light lavender scent. I also recommend espresso, peach champagne sorbet, strawberry orange sorbet, and pistachio.

Another item I love is the Piadina, which is a flatbread sandwich that comes in classic organic flour, whole wheat or gluten free. Vitaly has a wide variety of Piadina sandwiches or you can even build your own! My top two are the Romini (prosciutto) and the Riva Bella (smoked salmon).

If you’re looking for somewhere cozy with good food or craving for some fresh gelato, this is the place to go! They also have this item called ice cream spaghetti, sounds super cool huh? I can’t wait to try it next time when I’m in socal again. Vitaly deserves a 5/5 because it is hands down the best gelato cafe in the OC area! Not to mention their homemade fettuccine and lasagna are very delicious as well.
