S E A S O N Cuisine Pâtissiartism
At Season, the famous millie-fueille is a gorgeous ensemble of alluring colors, rich frothy custard cream, garnishing with beautifully assorted seasonal fruits. My mouth waters just looking at the picture. Hiding in the small alleys near MRT Da Zhi Station, Season serves an array of exquisitely orchestrated confections as well as various lunch set options.
My friend and I ordered the millie-fueille, which you have to call in to make a reservation beforehand, a fresh-from-the-oven quiche, and 2 pots of tea (wedding imperial and earl grey french blue, in case you’re wondering). The egg custard quiche has a mix of mushroom, onion, and bacon. It came with a tiny bowl of salad, a honey ciabatta bread, and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. You can smell the aroma of the vegetables and herbs coming from both the quiche and ciabatta. However, the quiche was a little bit dry in the mid section. It’s not disappointing, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The honey ciabatta, on the other hand, has a surprisingly chewy texture, which I absolutely love! Overall, I like the ciabatta bread more than the quiche.
Now on to the highlight of the afternoon tea, the incredible millie-fueille! The millie-fueilles at Season are all make to order. A dessert pastry chef will come to your table and make the millie-fueille in front of you. The texture of the custard slice is unbelievably crispy; the flavors come together and just melt in your mouth. According to my friend, this is the “best millie-fueille in the world,” and “it’s a taste that is hard to forget.”
These sea salt pancakes were the courtesy of our server, which did make us add a few more bonus points to the restaurant!
This restaurant falls more on the pricey side but it’s still worth a try considering the awesome service and the high quality of the desserts. Just make sure you make a reservation before you go! If you’re a fellow sweet tooth, get ready to indulge yourself in this dessert madness!
