Agnès b. CAFÉ L.P.G.
I’ve always admired Agnès Troublé, the French designer well known for her self-named brand, Agnes b, for the simplicity and timeless quality in her designs. The Agnès b. CAFÉ Le Pain Grillie in Taipei, is designed to continue the French lifestyle concept of Agnes b and provide a quite setting for people to relax their senses from the hustle and bustle of city life.
There are a total of 8 Agnes b cafe branches in Taipei, which are all located in various shopping malls, except this Agnès b. CAFÉ L.P.G flagship store located in the Da’An District. The cafe is just a few minutes walk away from the MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station. The ambiance is very modern, stylish, and sure to impress. Oh, did I mention that this place has amazing mosaic tile flooring?
I figured this is the perfect place for my friend from elementary school and I to meet up at because we sure need a whole afternoon to catch up and this place is one of the few cafes that do not have a dining time limit, which most restaurants have these days. The tables and chairs are spaced far enough to add on a cozy vibe to this place. In addition, the restaurant also has an option of outdoor seating, which is a plus!
Agnes b. Cafe offers quite a variety of food and drink, from sweet pastries to seasonal fruit teas and coffee, to all kinds of chocolate desserts, and there are also sandwiches and salads available for those who have a more savory appetite. My personal favorites are the vegetable quiche, Valerie (chestnut mousse cake), Paris (strawberry vanilla custard tart), and Chloe (hazelnut chocolate cake).
I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetable quiche. It was my first time ordering something that is not sweet at the restaurant and it was probably one of the best quiches I’ve had. The texture of the crust very crispy, almost like you’re eating a pastel de nata (Portuguese egg tart). The amount of vegetables is generous and the flavor is very subtle.
Agnes b. Cafe L.P.G earns accolades for serving both sweet and savory feasts that will please your eyes and palate. However, the look sometimes surpasses the taste. But overall, it does not disappoint. This cafe gets a 4/5 for its convenient location, beautiful decor, and pretty desserts that will make you drool. A good place to linger!
