The BEST restaurant in Asia? Gaggan, Bangkok
During my trip to Thailand this past August, I was lucky to eat at Gaggan, the no.1 gastronomic Indian restaurant in Asia for three consecutive years and no.7 worldwide in 2017. Gaggan has been on the top of my food bucket list after watching Netflix Chef’s Table (season 2 ep. 6), a documentary web series featuring renowned chefs all over the world. I highly recommend this show as it not only showcases the mesmerizing talent but also takes the audience into the daily lives of these carefully curated chefs.
Now back on Gaggan, as the world’s most celebrated Indian chef, Gaggan Anand defines his cuisine as progressive hoping to change people’s perception of Indian food. The emoji menu is the perfect example of chef’s interpretation of classic Indian dishes in a modern way.

The dinner set contains a total of 25 courses (more like bites), hence the 25 emojis on the menu. It’s also worth mentioning that their menu changes every 3 months.
So what’s it really like to eat at Asia’s best restaurant? Well let me tell ya, words and pictures can’t even do it justice. The presentation was mind-blowing, the dishes were innovative with influences from other parts of Asia and it’s definitely one of my favorite culinary experiences.
Gaggan has the magic to make every dish seems simple at first glance but rich in complexity. Once you taste it, the flavors immediately explode in your mouth and you become fully engaged into the experience.
