YOUR AVOCADO TOAST GUIDE TO TAIPEI

April 16, 2018

YASSSS! This is one post that I've been dying to do and it's finally here! I can't express how excited I am right now. Let me tell ya how much effort I put into this, I even bought Adobe Illustrator and binged watch a bunch of Youtube tutorials just for this post (Sorry I'm such a noob). Well, like I said in my 2017 highlight post, in 2018 I want to put out better content for y'all!

If you know me personally or have been following me for awhile, then you'd know how OBSESSED I am with avocados. Of course, I haven't tried all of the toasts out there, so if you have a favorite avo toast in Taipei, comment below or shoot me a message on Instagram @taipeifoodie. Okay, enough talking, now it's time for some avocuddles ;) Here's a round up of some of the places in Taipei that offer avocado toast!

First off, Yellow Lemon. Besides their beautiful desserts, did you know Yellow Lemon also has a very sophisticated brunch menu serving dishes such as open faced toasts and burgers? I immediately rushed over when I heard about their new  brunch menu. Their avocado toast comes with two perfectly cooked poached eggs, a side salad and some roasted potatoes.I love adding poached eggs to my toast and seeing the gooey egg yolk melds smoothly with the lush avocado flesh, it is literally #foodporn. Something to note is that their breads are on the harder side, so if you prefer soft breads, make sure you let the staff know.

Sometimes, simple is best. The avocado toast at Untitled Workshop is the simplest yet the most delicious in my opinion. It is all over Instagram, and rightfully so. The fact that they only add a handful of chopped chives on top of the sliced avocado with olive oil and nothing else really speaks to me because you can really get a full taste of the avocado. Trust me, this toast is magical!

Cafe by Juicy Diary always puts out the prettiest presentation of their food! I uploaded a picture of their colorful smoothie bowls last year and it remains one of the most-liked & most-saved pictures on my account. Their avocado toast is the prefect representation of the saying "breakfast of champs." It comes with 2 avocado toasts with poached egg and hard boiled egg. The seasoning is not too salty, and the huge portion definitely fills you up and gets you ready for the day!

My California peeps where you at!! Vast Cali Eatery is full of SoCal vibe! I mean, the name says it all. This is one of my recent favorite hang out spots, super chill vibe and there are a ton of food options. Food ranges from salads, cold press juices, smoothies, to tacos, burgers and a whole lot more. They even have a small market of fresh organic produce and a cool surf shop downstairs. However, my favorite corner is actually in the very back of the cafe with the sunroof, where they got a huge California flag, some picnic tables and blankets. It's almost like a secret hideout. They mash the avo with bigger chunks intact, so if you like a chunky spread, this could be your thing.

If you're feeling extra healthy, then Spotis the place to go since they throw a bunch of leafy greens on their toast. You may also jazz up your avo toast with a smoked salmon add-on. The natural oil from the smoked salmon gives the toast some extra moist texture. Besides the avo toast, I also recommend their breakfast taco.

Some people like their avocado mashed, chopped, or sliced. However, Stoppage Time does things differently. They make their avocado into an almost paste-like texture and topped with grilled halloumi cheese. This definitely makes it one of the most unique toasts I've tried. If you're not familiar with Halloumi cheese, its texture is firm and rubbery, some people say it's similar to Mozzarella cheese in texture but feta cheese in taste. It adds a nice savory flavor to the plain avocado. If you like stronger flavor, you'll probably enjoy this combo!

Who knew creamy avocado and salty halloumi cheese could be such a perfect match?
